10:04 PM; I'm not lazy, I'm choosing the path of least resistence.
I read some stuff on how doing less can mean so much more than 'doing more'!

While I won't necessarily agree with everything they say, what I agree with is that people are around me and so guilty about taking time off for themselves that it leads to pretty pent-up frustrations and not to mention crazy amounts of stress.

Yes I guess it's one test a week and I'm slightly behind time on my work, but I guess I will finish on time! I think I have been feeling the heat lately.

I read a lot when I am stressed, I think it unwinds me so whenever exam dates are near I read faster and more than what I normally do; I read the same old books over and over again because it doesn't tax my brain cells. Yeah I shall not feel guilty about that. I need my moments.

Yeah onward to the finals!

The article I was talking about is here.

10:59 PM; welcome to the world where it's ok to do things in moderation.
Yeah like it exists. Most successful people are the ones that do some things excessive, aren't they.

I don't belong there, that's for certain. I don't have that passion, that obsession, those forces of motivation. I think it comes with living a life of moderation.

I am up because my eyes are somehow red and sore. I didn't study much after school today for tomorrow, because I think there is only so much that my brain can take. And I can take, seeing that I did try hard for this test.

Of course, so did the rest of the people, so not that I would be particularly well or unwell.

And yes, sometimes (in fact a lot of the time), I hate the fact that I'm doing nothing more than mug 4 years of my life away. I mean, what have I learnt? The skill of near photographic memory? The fact that I can write 100 words per minute? The ability to spot questions that the crazy lecturers like to set?

Yes I am ranting and not sleeping and not studying.

Maybe I don't mind the barrage of exams that much, only the fact that they suck all joy out of learning, and the fact that every mistake you make (ok also every little effort) you make, count.

But seriously the the graph of grades against effort input is like a really gentle plateau towards the end (read: slope=0). So you wonder if all the effort is worth it.

I admire people who still attempt to have some semblance to a balanced life here.

I shall try to sleep now. I need all the sleep and luck that I can get.

4:49 PM; Don't you just hate tests?
I finished my biotech today and have pharamco tomorrow, so I am ranting.

Today's test did not go well. I mean, I think it's not very fair to test people on a detail that you've mentioned once and did not elaborate on it, and it constituted like what, 10% of the marks? This seems to be a hobby of lectures here, where trivial details are the king. My gosh, it was not even close to the principles of the topic that you were trying to get through, but rather a mindless regurgitation and who-has-photographic-memory.

Which just goes to show the point that studying here in this institution is just how well you can remember and vomit your lecture notes, and not reflective of what you actually know at all. Some of these tests, to my mind, are badly set. Not just this one, but quite a few others that I've taken as well.

Maybe I am just grousing because I didn't get it right, but really think there is a need to move beyond being able to photocopy your notes from your memory. Talk about a curriculum that defeats the point of learning. I'm just quite jaded about the quality of the system and at these times I wonder if I would have gotten away from such brain-cramming sessions had I gone overseas. Would I be forced to brute-swallow these information (sequences of insulin and etc.)and vomit it all out during exams, and then get amnesia afterwards?

And yes, I made a couple of mistakes. Now that I think of it, Watson and Crick discovered DNA in 1920, not 1970. Like, is this a history lesson? Gah oh well.

On to tomorrow.

8:00 PM; Sing along songs.
I have two songs which I really like at the moment.

The first is by Stacy Kent, titled Que reste t-il de nos amours or literally in English ,what is left of our loves. Originally sung by Charles Trenet, a really old famous french singer and song writer. He was also the original singer of La Mer, which most of us have heard of in its english version on Finding Nemo ("somewhere, far beyond the sea...lala, lalalalala...). Anyway, La Mer, according to Wikipedia, has been sung by more than 400 artists in many different languages.

Ok enough of the chat here is the song. If you find it familiar you probably have heard the song on the ads for a jewellery chain from singapore.

Ok now another nice song from the anime I was talking about, the one with the fat cat that looks like a mochi. This one is Aishiteru (I love you, I know that much) by Callin, a duo from Japan (one sings and the other does something apperently). The album's pretty new, and there isn't much about it online at the mo from what i see. It's very whimsical song I think, which is like all the other songs that I am listening to. Did I mention that most of them are kinda french at the mo?

I managed to find a good full version!! I think that they should be more well known than what they are now. Listened to a couple more of their songs and they aren't too bad. Stuff with simple accompaniment that makes for very easy listening. This one is pretty good too (oops did I say that I am going to say something about 2 songs? this is the appendix then.) and it's titled Arch.

In case I haven't mentioned before do try aurgasm (google it). They have some good recommendations from time to time as well.

6:00 PM; B-day post.
The weather likes to rain on my parade too.

Oh well here's a happy 21 years of life to me!!!

Anyways I've decided to get a lomography camera!! You can get them in Singapore apperently so yes I shall head down to bugis next weekend!!

8:51 PM; Jump and a hop away.
I skipped from golf courses to herpesvirus with alarming speed.

I am going crazy with doing the bloody referencing and all it is getting onto my nerves. At least the herpesvirus is not in my nerves. No wait, it is cos I've had chickenpox.

My jokes are so lame that I don't think they even have legs.

This is what staring at lots of pictures on herpes infections can do to you, I think.

Talk about medical trauma. Ha, ha.

Yep tests and stuff are coming up as well and I just want the semester to be over quickly! Maybe learn driving and get a job.

Whoopee.
