3:38 PM; Food blog.
Ok I feel like a big fat glutton.

I think something of an epicurean streak runs in the family. Everyone likes to eat good. Preferably a lot of good.

Having something of a chocolate fetish, there was this lunch (or afternoon tea) of it at this place in the esplanade. There was a lot of chocolate, admittedly not bad, and the decor was nice, but I think they should have more creative stuff with chocolate. Menu seems a little limited. I mean there are like tons of yummy things made out of chocolate. Surely there is room for more unusual dishes.

Ok, maybe not something like chocolate with fish, but yes you get the idea. We all had chocolate fondue and this chocolate crepe and also banana waffles. Not too bad, but I prefer if there was a dark option to everything. They should allow people to specify the type of chocolate they want with the dish. Maybe Singaporeans are not gutsy enough (in both ways) to stomach anything beyond the usual fare, and a restaurant has to make money after all.

On the topic of chocolate, for anyone who has a sweet tooth out there you must go and try Mark and Spencer's Triple Chocolate Crunch (boasting an all new improved recipe on the box). It is basically oats with lots of chocolate bits inside, but M and S are very generous with the chocolate portions. They come in 3 types (namely dark milk and white) by the way to satisfy everyone, and the chocolate is those of a better quality as well. It's really pretty good and since they are having a sale at the moment ($5.90 instead of $7.90); I suggest you grab it as soon as possible.

Yeah now that I have reached the 19th year in my life I feel it is really time to be discerning about the type of junk that you put into your body. No point wasting calories over some cheap chocolate that is as hard as hell and so sweet that your teeth would want to fall off. It's scary what kids can do for a quick sugar-fix. I've been one of them so I know, haha.

Besides dark chocolate is healthy;cocoa contains antioxidants. Not that it gives reason to binge, but as everything moderation is the key .

I have to lose some weight. It's getting embarrassing in dressing rooms in shops.

3:13 PM; Moles and stuff
Just came back from the hospital.

Visited this certain professor who's an old uncle (eh 50 plus plus?) but might look younger than he is since he's a plastic surgeon and and all. He has so many titles to his name that it was quite bewildering. Not like I knew what any of them stood for, just that the words general surgery and plastic surgery jumped out. His tag on the door read something like head, neck, breast consultation lols.

But anyway, I went to him to get the mole removed from my face, the one below my left eye. It took about half and hour and was pretty much painless. The nurse basically took me to this room and put this sheet on my face (cos it's sterile or something) and then adjusted the light and stuff. Then she asked if I could breathe through the sheet and I was like yeah, I'm still alive or something. Then the local anesthesia was applied, which sort of numbed my teeth as well.

The doctor then came into the room and started doing stuff to my face and then after 10 minutes it was basically done. They put whatever they dug out into this plastic container and let me examine it, although it wasn't like I was interested in doing so. Didn't take a very close look, but I think it was like a blob of flesh swimming about in liquid.

It was an interesting experience anyway. Will have to go back to get the stitches removed a week later. But I should have a scar for about 3 months, I think.

Since this is like the second time people have tried to dig it out I hope it's sucessful. The last time I tried to get moles removed (gosh this makes me sound like such a mole-ly person) the doctor burned the exact same patch off and I could smell fried flesh, like meat burning on BBQ.

Ok I shall stop grossing myself out. There's this funny smell coming from my CPU. Hope it's nothing dead inside there. I don't want to know.

10:54 PM; Korean craze

Track off the hwang jin yi sound track. Am currently watching this. Check them out. The above is the voiced theme of the leading character. Quite standard korean lady emoting if you ask me, but not bad.

The instrumental theme. Big opera ladies and violins for the epic drama feel. Again still not too bad, though I reckon i'll be sick of it by the time I'm through with this song.

The touching sad instrumental for all those tender, heartfelt sentimental scenes.

The same instrumental theme as the second, but with more oomph for more upbeat times. For all those who have fears about big ladies with big voices squishing them under their butts haha.

Oh I am on episode 3 by the way. Crunchyroll rocks.

10:45 AM; Ennui is getting tired.
I think what defines my day now is just the mindless tedium of getting the floors cleaned, the ironing done.

I know it's bad when I don't even feel up to shopping for anything. Haven't had my retail therapy for a long time.

It's getting tiring to ask people out when you know they have their own lives to get on with.

I just want to do something outside of the house for once. Maybe alone. But I just keep putting it off. The effort doesn't seem worth it.

I know I'm wasting my precious time away, especially when I don't even look forward to uni life. Staying at hostels seem overrated when you have to do so many compulsory activities. Strangely enough I seem to only look forward to owning my own laptop for some computer privacy.

That is all. Rah life sucks.

1:20 PM; Load on my mind.
I'm sure at this point in time I am not the only one struggling with the consequences of the choice I've made for future study. Somehow what I've chosen doesn't seem to excite me alot, and thinking that I could change courses if I really didn't like it at this point in time is, well, kind of wrong. I mean, I chose so that I could back out of it?

I have no idea where the degree will lead to. Yeah sure it's a working degree; I just don't see myslf down there in a few years' time. This brings me to the grim fact that I am studying something in university because everyone else is doing it and I have to.

Passing time like that sure makes you think of wasting your youth, whatever that is. People do all sorts of crazy and meaningless things when they are young? But what other better time to do it?

I envy people who are so sure what they what to be when they grow up. It just makes all the indecicive ones more childish. Although we all must have written an essay titled What I Want to Be When I Grow Up, I can't for the life of me recall what was it I wanted to be. I think it used to run along the lines of being able to feed myself and possibly a few others, and have enough time to breathe and take a vacation once in a while, but the question as to how to achieve these aims is still open.

Choice is a really scary thing in this generation. While people used to complain about how they were given no choice in the past, I see too many choices at present: what to eat, what to wear, what to do in your spare time, what to do for your future like, what to do to secire your retirement plan. Inevitably there's always the burden of choice, and many would be wrecked by the uncertainty of the sucesses of their chosing.

Maybe that is all we can do? Pick one (whether well-informed or not) and just hope for the best. At the end it may just be the answer of if it's to your sucess or failure.

6:00 PM; Lala land
It has come to my attention that I am blogging on an alarmingly frequent basis nowadays.

Anyway was wondering about some of the dreams that I am having these few days. I remember there was this one the day before, about some primary school mates. Goodness knows what we were doing in my dream, but the only scene I more or less recall was that of me sitting with the primary 6 version of myself with these 3 other good buddies last time. We all used to sit together and would come up with lots of Harry Potter quizzes because we were all fanatics. (Things like, what are the shape of Dumbledore's glasses? It's crescent moon shaped. Talk about lousy things to remember.) It was a pretty fun time, even with the PSLE and all, I guess.

And in my dream, I was feeling the most surreal sense of happiness, because we were all together.

Somehow, usually, my dreams are that of things I haven't been thinking of during the day or in the while. In this case, that of us together in those long-gone times. I know that sometimes emotions and of course events, are by and large fictional. I couldn't help but wonder if there was a heightened sense of realism to what I was feeling at the moment. Sure, in some I jump fearlessly off goodness knows where, but I haven't had one of those dreams in a long time. Growing up, it seems, means losing your imagination in some ways or another. Those flying dreams were fun while they lasted. But things I do dream of now are usually facts twisted with a lot of fiction. Like the one another night, something about going back to college to collect certificates. It was a weird meld of schools I've attended over the years, and strangely enough it involved a giant pool with icebergs on top. We had to swim underwater and avoid getting our guts ripped out by the icicles hanging overhead, haha.

My dreams seem to be more ludicrous than my conscious imgaination can ever conceieve, with must mean I have some latent form of creativity underneath it all right? Some dreams are too fantastic for me even to start on. I'll forget it sooner or later, but the bits that I can remember after waking up amazes me. It gives quite a good feeling sometimes.

Of course that is not to say I don't have my fair share of mundane dreams as well, but I would rather have a out-of-this-world one, even though it may be scary or lonely or whatever. No point dreaming about mediocrity where there's already too much of it in real life.

Sleeping(or rather dreaming), eating and a good crap are the most underated pleasures in the world, if you ask me. I never did get those who would resign themselves to pathetic 4 or 5 hours' worth each day. And I am proud to delcare I sleep around 10 nowadays, 7.5 to 8 on normal school days, regardless of whatever tests the next day.

I think it was some Chinese poet who remarked, "I dreamt that I was a butterfly, but when I woke up I found myself a man. I don't know if I'm a man who dreams that he is a butterfly, or a butterfly who dreams that he is a man.", or something like that.

I think there is meaning in ancient words, hmm.

5:30 PM; Debilitating heat
It has been awful weather day after day. Singapore is much too hot.

But with how we're treating the world, I think we deserve it. Maybe some more than others.

Of course if you spread the blame around enough people, it's no one's fault, really.

Have finished really some of the aforementioned books. Good way to pass time.

I still have to make acquaintance with Anne and Salammbo, haha.

The idea of a Bintan resort stay sounds really good, but yes money is still a factor. Maybe if we all share a room? There's a really good deal now. 2 nights and you get another free. But it means more money on food as well. But they're throwing in a free 90-minute spa everyday!

Gosh talk abut tempting.

Haven't caught many movies 'cos there like no one to catch them with and I don't feel up to weekends. Everyone seems to be happily working. I'm bumming.

Ok now back to some more shows online.

3:24 PM; Blisters, books and boredom
I have been trying to play the guitar lately. Won't exactly say suck at it, but am not the next Jimmy Hendrix for sure. Am suffering from 3 very painful left hand finger tips, which are kinda swollen and seem to be whitish where I press down on the guitar the hardest. It gives off this painful buzzing feeling whenever I hit the keyboard.

Am also trying to do a bit of deep reading nowadays. Borrowed Salammbo by Gustave Flaubert from the library just the other day. In case you're wondering, he is the same French dude who wrote Madame Bovary. Haha talk about evil cults and more carnal sin. Ok this is what the ever mighty and oh-so handy Wikipedia says about the story:

"Salammbô is an historical novel by Gustave Flaubert, which interweaves historical and fictional characters. The action takes place immediately before and during the Mercenary Revolt against Carthage in the third century BC. Flaubert's main source was Book I of Polybius's Histories. It was not a particularly well-studied period of history and required a great deal of work from the author, who enthusiastically left behind the dreary subject-matter of Madame Bovary for this lurid tale of blood-and-thunder.
The book, which Flaubert researched painstakingly, is largely an exercise in sensuous and violent exoticism. Following the success of Madame Bovary, it was another best-seller and sealed his reputation. The Carthaginian costumes described therein even left traces on the fashions of the time. Nevertheless, it is practically unknown today among English-speakers.

After the First Punic War, Carthage is unable to fulfil promises made to its army of mercenaries, and finds itself under attack. The fictional title character, a priestess and the daughter of Hamilcar Barca, an aristocratic Carthaginian general, is the object of the obsessive lust of Matho, a leader of the mercenaries. With the help of the scheming freed slave, Spendius, Matho steals the sacred veil of Carthage, the Zaïmph, prompting Salammbô to enter the mercenaries' camp in an attempt to steal it back. "

Haha yeah it sounds interesting alright. I promise to finish reading it. The first few pages depict the ancient city of Carthage and of course the titular character of the novel. Gosh it seems like a pretty brutal day in 200 BC.

But before that I will finish off the lighter ones first including some classics that I should have but did not read when I was younger. It is Anne of Green Cables, just to see what the hoo-ha is all about. Oh and some chick lit that if I am not wrong, recommended by Meikuan on a trip to the AMK library, in the Stephanie Plum Series. And another random book whose title I can't remember.

Am still doing the washing and stuff and was in the middle of matching the Singapore Sweep numbers when enough numbers was enough. Haha what a very Singaporean activity to do. I have a stack of them and the father promised me half the loot if any of them strikes. (No no big prizes, I checked already hah)

Oh yeah another excellent anime series I have been watching is a new one called Darker than Black ( as pointed out by Deborah, impossible but the remainder of us shall all think metaphorically in this case) who stars some anti heroes. Which makes me come to the realisation that many of my current series all feature anti heroes. Superman is cliched. Batman has moved on and become the darker knight ha ha.

Ok I am rambling but this must be another one of my most readable posts yet. Will search online for more things to do when bored, but I'll have to finish matching the numbers first.

Which like most things I'm doing at the moment, an exercise in futility.

10:27 AM; The only way to get rid of your strawberries is to eat them.
I am a bored person.

You know you are bored when doing the ironing is the high point of the day.

Thank goodness not of the week.

Anyway with most of the people I know in the country out of it it doesn't seem veryinteresting.

I am bored.

Ramblings.

Highly irritated. Bah.

I need a resort getaway.

The wallet screams in dying agony with the last of its innards being removed.

The innards jingle so, too.

Am too proud and poor so will content myself with looking at pictures.

Annoyed, mostly.

Will not pretend any of this makes sense, but I am on one topic for a blog, which means Orlando Bloom is going to marry me any day now.

Not that I think he still looks good now, but you get my point.
